Founder, Board member and “girl for everything”
Dianne has melded her corporate management and project experience with her love of textiles to create Pure Felt and contribute to the empowerment of unemployed women and youth. She has delivered projects that have made a positive impact in South Africa, Europe and beyond. Since 2006 Dianne has been experimenting with designing and creating hand-felted wall murals and architectural art. Each piece is made from carefully chosen natural wools and silk, combining a variety of textures, dimensions, colours and sizes. She is inspired by the smiles, stories, wisdom and dreams of people from other cultures, and believes and feels that we are all strongly interconnected. Dianne thrives on bringing these stories to life by applying an ancient felting skill to contemporary textile art worthy of any modern day environment, where each and every creation generates its own unique emotion and captures the imagination of the viewer. Manager Skills & Entrepreneurship Development South Africa
Rucera`s primary focus is the further development, roll-out and assistance with training around issues of entrepreneurship and personal skills development, as well as microbusiness support. Rucera and Dianne have jointly co-operated on two successful felt art commissions with the support of the Youngblood Foundation in Cape Town: props and costumes for the operetta Flower of Shembe and a six-floor circulation architectural wall felt installation in Sandton, Johannesburg. Rucera was the first trainer initially trained by Dianne. She has co-trained and co-mentored the felt trainees and managed them in the two projects in our Cape Town studio.

At the same time she loves design and appreciates craftsmanship. That is why she balances her job activities with architectural model building (1:12), sculpting, sewing and occasionally painting. Because she lived in Southern Africa for over 20 years and now works mainly with international clientele she has an open-minded, global and uncomplicated view of things. Problems are fun to solve – let’s be practical!
